LIDL Wireless Cycle Computer

I am having issues with this cycle computer.
It is a bikemate one I bought from LIDL about a year ago.
When I first got it, it worked OK.
Now, it only gets a signal when the computer is held almost right next to the wheel sensor.
I have listened to the wheel sensor and I can quite clearly hear it clicking every time the magnet passes, so it is picking up the sensor OK. I have tried new batteries in the wheel sensor and it makes no difference. I have not tried any new batteries in the computer yet as it is not showing any indication of a low battery.
Any ideas what might be wrong?

I would try a new battery in the computer first and then if still faulty scrap it. Being brutally realistic £3 or so isn't worth worrying about.
I had one that keeps recording 50 odd MPH everytime I approach traffic lights. I've scrapped it and replaced it with a Halfords 6 unit. Much more reliable.

The Lidl ones go tits up with slightest EM noise around them.

I binned the one I tried.
