Maybe this will be open in time? http://www.h2bikerun.co.uk/clubs/ (city branch)Aha, this is a modern city office block!
Went for the Lizard skin 3.2mm tape in grey, best price was Hellfrauds of all places
Next up, I need a headset I believe - standard one on the off the peg bike is "M:Part Elite Sealed Cartridge Bearing 1-1/8" "
Any recommendations for something similar, they seem to vary wildly in price from about £20 to over £200![]()
Memories for me too. I have lived in Lower Morden, Raynes Park and New Malden in the past. Chapeau to all you guys who cycle around there, it was bad enough 20 years ago.Wow. memories!
Mrs FF is a Morden girl and my first job after Poly was in Leatherhead. This is about 1984 ish I had a bedsit in Epsom (Burgh Heath Road) and so regularly 'commuted' Leatherhead - Epsom - Morden - Epsom in order to work and have a sex-life. Rode them on my old Holdsworth fixed-wheeler all times of day and night!
When we got married we lived in a flat in Belmont opposite the Marsden, got Married at St John's and had our Wedding reception at Nonsuch Park.
Happy Daze!
I agree with themosquitoking, cycling in London is a rush! I cut my teeth between Morden - Clapham - Elephant and Castle in '82-'84 and loved every minute of it. I re-ran the route some years back and wrote about it here.
I'm going through a very similar process to you at present (i.e. building up a steel frame from scratch) and I've gone for this headset: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190939738138?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 on the basis that it has sealed bearings, was a reasonable price and looks OK
I've used M Part headsets in the past and they're OK.
I recently bought a Neco headset from Ebay (for another bike), but the seller has no stock at present. That was excellent value - if you're not in a rush it may be worth waiting to see if the seller gets more stock. I emailed him a while ago and he replied saying he expected stock soon: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=221292916036
Are sealed bearings better?
...BUT it's £80(and Specialized
)
