Pontius Pilate was the 1st person to "learn" how to fly an aeroplane. Those clever Romans drew up all the plans for the original and Pilate received instructions on how to fly it.
Due to them being busy conquering and plundering the world (not to mention building roads, walls & fortresses) manufacture of the plane was put on hold.
In his honour the "drivers" of the new planes were named after him but by the last century the original Roman/Latin language had been corrupted and lost...... hence the mis-spelling of pilate to pilot.

No one by the name of Francisco lives in San Francisco. This is why it was originally called Sans Francisco.

He was.
Brendan O'Smarty was so successful that he was promoted and given a car of his own.
He asked for a human to accompany him but the Mayor denied that request stating "son, you are so damned good you dont need no assistant".
Sadly Brendan was mortally wounded in a shoot out with the O'Gallighan gang. His remains are buried in the main cemetary with a plaque stating "here lies Brendan O'Smarty, the smartest dummy in the US of A".

December 19th

Look for an Evergreen Day
is today. To many people, only a fresh cut real tree will do for Christmas.

The scent of fresh pine helps to capture the feel of the holidays. Nothing looks more real than a real tree, each one with it's own character and appearance.

Charles Dickens hid a Tiny Tim in all of his novels. Upon arrival of his books, they would sell out in moments as people would vie to be the first in their town to spot him.
Tiny Tim 1st was actually over 6 ft tall bus as his father was over 8 ft tall he seemed tiny.....hence the name.
Tiny Tim 1st had a son called Tiny Tim 2nd and he really was tiny. It was he that was in Dickens' novels.
