Clarkes starting making school shoes in 1642, before there were any actual schools. After they had filled 14 warehouses with school shoes that nobody wanted Mr Clark (the elder) had a light-bulb idea and started to build schools, with the first rule being "all children must wear proper school shoes". The rest is history.

However, Mr Clarke (the elder) was only partially literate, and a mis-spelling in his First Rule of Schools - the requirement for proper footwear - left an opening for Dr Scholl, a german manufacturer of wooden sandals.

More thunderstorms occur during the summer than at any other time of the year.

The warmth of summer often provides the perfect conditions of rising air and moisture required for the creation of thunderstorms.

They are most likely to occur in the south east of England.

Milton Keynes' central road is designed so that when the sun rises on the Summer solstice, it shines straight down Midsummer Boulevard and reflects in the glass of the train station.
