I was rather proud of my E-book cover (Not published yet so time to change it) but from feedback on the Kindle writers forum it got some dodgy feedback so thought I would ask on my favourite forum.

The book is set in both 21 Century and late 19 Century and involves cricket.....

In my defence......
I know the edge of the Ashes Urn looks a bit Iffy but less noticeable when viewed smaller (Kindle/Tablet size)
I chose B+W for a 'Film Noire' look
And the red was chosen for the ashes theme....
all 3 issues were discussed and mostly disliked

I did listen to the advice and criticism on the Kindle forum as a lot of people on there sell loads of books and it has made me look again.....
So what do you guys think Please judge this book by its cover
EDIT: saturday 6/6... Opinion was its a bit dodgy so a new 'work in progress' is on page five of thread so don't bother voting as I got the results and listened to them....... just comment on the newer version, if you want to.....

It's a nicely taken picture, but the urn really does let it down. It's not so much that it's shopped in in a slightly wonky way, as that the perspective is "off", making it look like a flat cutout.

I'd be tempted to borrow a ball and reshoot using that, maybe, if you can't find a royalty free pic of the urn on grass that would work.

IMHO it looks good EXCEPT for the urn - I'd be tempted to stick with the cup of tea but with a cricket ball sitting next to it. You've already referred to "Ashes" in the title and any other reference to cricket in the picture will clarify what it is about - no need for the urn to make it obvious.

Your cover isn't brilliant, clearly an amateur attempt, but in a quaint way rather than in a completely disastrous way. I agree with others that the urn looks terrible, but other than that it's not horrendous.

I can't decide on my favourite. The Boy Who Shat in the Oven looks promising.
