Ok, here's my race info from the first race of the year. I think the racetype is called "Sportive! in english - a public race with helpers only the most dangerous places. It's a route around my local lake, with some tough small hills on the north-east side of the lake. I thought it would be good TT training to use the hills to get away on my own, and then put the power on.
Unfortunately we met up with a group that was riding another distance, and I was closed in by some teams who now grew to twice the size. There was also confusion about who was with which group, and at one time a guy I hadn't seen before, took off. No one went after him and I was sure he belonged to the other group. I eventually got away from the team that locked me in, and began to put on some pressure on the hills.
It was a real strange race. I was the only one without a team, and yet I was up front putting some pressure on. The start was sooo slow, and I think we were half way before the pace began to pick up.
There was a bunch of 10-12 guys I couldn't shake off on the hills, but I guess the effort made its mark, since we were only 4 guys sprinting at the end. A guy with a lead-out man beat me by the width of a tire.
To my big suprise, the guy that took off earlier, was standing at the finish line, so perhaps we were not sprinting for victory. The guy who beat me in the sprint, let out a big deep viking roar at the finish line, so I guess he thought he won too
