I'm pretty sure you are not in the weight category the mountain moose group is aimed at!:whistle:;)

I joined because I've not done any climbs at all! I haven't cycled outside of Weston-super-Mare and I haven't attempted the hills here so my climbing in total is less than 100m.

If I do do well in them I won't complete them because it would be unfair for me to do well if i don't fit the category.

Dec Chaingang League details

5 more stages of loveliness for you all.

Stage one: 29km - flat with a sharp kick for the last 3km.
Stage two: 10 mile Time Trial course - slightly rolling circuit rather than just a pure flat TT
Stage three: 31km - flat till 20km then drops, levels off then drops again over the last 10km
Stage four: 15km - no flats down, up then down and up again - favours the goats!
Stage five: The big one! 50km - bit different than the last one as it enters into a mild 5km descent near the start which should keep people closer together than the inital hills in the last one. Then rolling flats til the last 5 or so km goes upwards again (nothing steep though)

Scheduled to start tomorrow

Damn, I'm working away this week so will miss Thursday's ride. Is it possible to leave the rides open for 2 weeks rather than 1 during December, to allow for party season

Ooh! I hope to be able to participate this month! I may be at the back  Also I've never gone further than 33km so that'll be fun!

Can I complete it any day or only thurs/sat? Not 100% sure on that one

Here's an interesting one, I went on my trainer today and tried a climb I did earlier in the year in the Pyrenees, the col de la Pierre Saint Martin from Arette over 24km up hill just under 26km in total, you climb over 1400m, it was very hot when I was there and I had never attempted anything similar so took it slow and steady bottom 9-10km at the foot of the mountain average around 9-10%
It took me 2hrs 17mins on the trainer and in real life 2hrs 15mins, bearing in mind I have an injury at present and didn't get on a bike for 6 weeks, though I have done a lot of climbing since the attempt in real life before being injured, the times are remarkably close, I was being very cautious in real life as I was on my own and it was an unknown quantity.

I would say it was easier in real life, I am not sure if that is because of the injury and not being able to get out of the sadle on the trainer which I did in real life, the fact you have scenery to look at ( the ride in Bkool is 2D ) or because I didn't get to get off at the top and take photos and admire the view into Spain. It was an interesting experiment. Very hard going though and a little less rewarding.

My experience is pretty similar. My times in real life, especially going up, are eerily similar to those in bkool. It is harder on the turbo for me because standing up on the pedals leads, for a while at least, to loss of power. So its difficult to get that extra kick when i need it or to shake out the lactic or a tight muscle.

You can do it any day whilst the ride is open. I think each ride is open for one week, so ride one opens tomorrow and you can ride it at any time up until next Sunday.

Don't worry about being at the back ... you won't be on your own. There are a few of us who like to follow the main race from a little way back

Chaingang results - Oct/Nov 2015 series

1. Bill S
2. RickB + 08:25
3. JonBon + 11:12

Bill comes through as champ with a comfortable margin of over 8 mins from his nearest competitor. These flattish courses with the odd hill are right up his street by the looks of it so its going to be hard to dethrone him anytime soon! Well done man! :notworthy:

Congratulations to the 10 who completed all 5 stages. You're commitment is appreciated and hopefully that number will grow with December league - to be released shortly!

Gonna give special mention to Whorty, Rob, Paul, Baldo and especially Goldwolfie for their great effort on the finale. Not many guys would have the determination to keep going that long. I know you'll reap the benefits in your fitness due to your dedication. :bravo:

Thanks very much Rick, and thanks for running a great league. Great stage choices, and you're right, they do suit me well for getting a good result. I rarely miss one so that gives me a chance to beat the likes of Guy, LB, Jonbon, Irish Al, Gareth (what happened to Gareth?). Its never easy of course with you Rick, always up there either up ahead or close behind, and now Bobinski has found his wings and was a very tough competitor last night.
I must admit the chaingang is my favourite league .

Sounds great Rick. Nicely mixed up. May mean some of us can keep up with Bill especially if Randy can fatten him up with a few too many waffles smothered in strawberries and cream^_^ How many waffles do you need to overturn an 8 min advantage?

Oh, and very well done Bill on an awesome performance to take the chaingang league so convincingly!
