I suggest you stop now, people will be mocking your woeful ignorance. It's a good thing you're amongst friends - you'd be laughed off any serious musical forum.

I believe he means "Owner of a Lonely Heart" - a catchy and well-produced ditty from the "90125" long-player. (I rather liked it - and Big Generator. What an awful title that is! )

One of my former lecturers used to play keyboards in The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. He left to teach psychology just before they hit the big time. He should have stuck to playing keyboards.

And Arthur Brown still does gigs, when he can be tempted out of his yurt..

I still love Gong, just don't need to play the CDs anymore as it's all in my head, I can lie back and listen to it anywhere.
Have you heard the newer stuff... post Daevid Allen?

Rejoice, I'm Dead is possibly their finest LP since 1974's You. ...and yes, all of the current band were children, or yet to be born in '74

Big Generator - great album, godawful sleeve.

Does anyone recall the Hells Angel's taking umbrage with Arthur Brown because he sang that he was the God of hellfire? They threatened to slap him with a duelling gauntlet for the mere suggestion that it was he, and not they, in charge of hell fire.

Yes, I saw them last November, when they toured with Steve Hillage. The first set was just the current Gong band, though a lot of what they played went back to Camembert and even earlier. The second with Steve & Miquette (with Gong as their backing band) was mostly from Steve's solo albums, and very good they all were too. I also saw Here & Now last year, in fact they were playing at the same festival as we were in Kent. Only original member is Keith, the bass player, but it was still 100% Here & Now. We had to follow them on the main stage and it was a bit weird, my head was back at Stonehenge in the 70s!

Er,where is it?
I bought the Faust tapes when Virgin released for something like 48p. My sister bought Camembert Electrique which was at the same price. Neither of us liked what we'd bought, so we swapped. I was hooked on Gong from that moment on. I don't think she got quite such a good deal as I did!
