We haven't got any hedgehogs. . No seriously we don't have any round here. Never seen 1.

We had part of a hedgehog in the garden the other week, it was washday Monday and in the afternoon I noticed the drain was blocked, after the machine was finished I investigated and found the head of a hedgehog stuffed into the bottom of the drain blocking it, whats in the habit of stuffing parts of animals down drains I haven't a clue.

welsh dragon

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Good Morning. I could tell you it's raining very hard or I could say it's absolutely pissin' down....................which would be far more accurate!!!!! Riding cancelled. One of my buddies is riding the Pan Celtic........he keeps sending pictures of golden wheat fields and a beautiful sunrise.

Instead of riding I'm undertaking the joyous task of working out the household budget.

Apart from the early days C1970s we have never done a budget.
We knew what we (me) earned and just made sure we didn't spend any more than that.

Pretty much what I'm doing and the philosophy we always had We've had a lot of expense the last six months and #3 son's wedding is in October!!!

I am waaaay out of touch now......daughter has been married 30 years. Is it no longer the case that the girls parents carried the burden ??
I NEVER agreed with that but Sue's Dad (who we found out later was skint) insisted on paying for the lot. He borrowed🤨

Morning all.

Another horrendous night as a mild neck ache turned into a no holds barred headache that neither codeine, naproxen, paracetamol, ice packs and hot water bottles will shift.

Seriously getting depressed about this now, and the lack of help from my GP

I know tradition says the bride's father pays but I don't know what the modern approach is. 43 years ago Mrs P and I paid for our own wedding.........we only had 11 guests!!!! #3 son and his partner are paying for the wedding but we will give them a sizeable sum towards it. They don't know this yet, to be honest we don't want to encourage more spending. We're very happy they are doing what they want to do but can't help but feel a smaller affair for family and close friends would be more appropriate. Bride to be is long time estranged from her father and mother isn't a wealthy person but I believe has been saving for this for decades - literally.

I think this is probably what I'm doing wrong. I'm not cycling as much and think I can just go out and do what I used to but suffer for it after. I ended up with a sore neck which turned into a headache yesterday. I should go out more often but shorter I think.

Pleasant, but cool morning here which suits me. Just the riverside trail walk done this morning.

I think Wimbledon starts today. Sometimes I get into it and other times I don't bother. A bit like the cycling. I only put it on for the final 20k yesterday.

It is hard to get back into cycling and I agree it is easy to have false expectations after a layoff. Not sure what to do about that though!

I suffer from finding cycling pretty boring full stop tbh and even after just a couple of hours or so I have had enough for the day. It's just a means to an end ie staving off the Grim Reaper. The same with low level walking.

Yet, when fully fit, I can walk in the mountains all day and thoroughly enjoy it.

Yes, I must admit I start getting a bit fed up after I've been out for a while. I think I will start going out more often but shorter distances whether that is cycling, jogging or walking. I am inclined to do a lot first thing then sit around too much later whereas it would be healthier to move more often but shorter distances I think.

Yes, keep it simple is the way to go imo.

It's ridiculous how weddings have gotten out of control on the money front.

A couple we know have just put themselves way into debt lashing out nearly £40k on their daughter's wedding so she can be a 'princess' for the day - this being the current social media mantra as I understand it.

They are not hard up people but neither are they particularly well off - it is a very significant debt for them.

Crazy world!
