The burden of proof is on those making the claim for evidence of a young earth.
They have yet to come up with any acceptable evidence to substantiate their claims.
Personally, I prefer to go with the current, peer reviewed, scientific consensus.

Thank you for being gracious about my poor reaction. Your post felt like a bit of a non-sequitur cheap shot but you have qualified it well, and the thread has since devolved completely into non-sequitur so I can't summon any ire about it.

I'd just seen a lot of normally reasonable people on the twitters using rhetoric against Scottish people that suggested both a concerted attack and a lack of insight into the political landscape and made the false assumption that your post came from a similar position. I guess my reply was a manifestation of frustration about that.

As you clearly have no time for either Farage or JRM we have more in common than not

Yes it is. In the same way as any positive claim induces the burden of proof. Those who have dated the earth at 4.5 billion years have had to show their working (and have it checked tested endlessly by others), so those who claim the earth is 6,000 or 10,000 years old need also show their working. (It's hilarious when they try........).
