Electronic cameras for me - partly owing to a professional interest, and partly because of the huge impact on society in general. Imagine all these helmet cammers going around with shoe-boxes on their heads.

Sqezy washing up liquid. First ever use of squeezeable bottles. I couldn't get over the fact there was now an almost endless supply of free water pistils.

I remember the invention of remote data transfer as a way of improving measurement stability within 2-D and areal surface measurement instruments.

Another one for me - the broom cupboard with continuity on screen (Philip Scofield and Gordon the Gopher) during children's BBC. Before that, there had just been the usual grown up disembodied voice.

Also, how it was much more exciting* when the station ident, or the 9 o'clock news styling changed. Seemed to happen so rarely in those days.

We had them as kids.

Yeah, kid i sat next to in class had one. There's always one whose parents can afford all the latest gadgets.

We had quite a few firsts, Dad was very into his modern gadgets.

I remember my Dad bringing a calculator home from his work, when I was around 7 or 8. The display was green numbers, in that form that looked a bit like glowing wire.

I remember he wrote out lots of basic arithmatic sums, and did them in front of me on the calulator, and the got me to do them on paper to 'check the calculator got it right'. Cunning sod!
