Otway is a star but so is Richard.....................they've been 'bouncing' off each other for over 30 years

One of the funniest lines I've heard is.................."what's the difference between a lead guitarist and a backing guitarist...............About £40 quipped Richard
I've seen John with Willy (Barret), with Richard, (Holgarth) with the 'Big Band' and solo

He did that gag on Thursday too, albeit now forty five quid due to inflation.

I've seen him at least twice before: first time in the early 80s in High Wycombe, possibly then with Wild Willy Barret. On that occasion I saw him glancing up a few times then he jumped up onto a roof truss, and played his guitar hanging upside down by his legs. I think it was lack of a suitable beam rather than his being forty years older stopped him the other night. Also saw him 25 or so years back i. Cheltenham with Attila the Stockbroker

This time, at the beginning of the set he asks anyone who'd not seem them before to put their hands up and a small handful did so, including my Mrs. "I hope you've been told what to expect". She loved it just as much as us old hands and said it was definitely one to add to the small list of "best gigs" we've been to

An Dannsa Dub at Settle Victoria Hall, on daughter's recommendation. Scottish folk meets dub reggae - great sound. Deserved a bigger crowd, but lots of people dancing from the start.

Never heard of them, but I am going to have to look into that as it seems very much the sort of thing I'd like

Perhaps a novelty act in some ways, and clearly didn't take himself at all seriously, yet a super professional show which was pure joy from start to finish. If he comes round your way you simply must go.

Seconded - I've been to many "proper" music shows and enjoyed them less!

I think I saw him around the time of the Bunsen Burner stunt - wiki tells me this was 2002? Seems about right. It was in a tiny hall in the Surrey countryside somewhere.

Porridge Radio at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds. The penultimate date of their farewell tour before going their separate ways after 10 years.

The 7th time I've seen them live in that time.
