It's all about what you can beat on the open road....
Like GrasB, I've cycle passed pretty much every vehicle you can (gotta love cycling through mayfair). Over 7 or so miles I've beaten motorbikes in London.
Superb that.

Probably just over 30mph.I'd love to be able to consistently ride that fast. How fast were you going at the fastest point? Looked a hell of a lot quicker than I could ever do![]()
Does SS count? That would have been more impressive if you were riding fixed![]()
I'm pretty sure that isn't the reason anyone would think we are tossers.Boasting about what expensive cars we've beaten through the traffic is the reason why motorists think we're a bunch of tossers.

If the cars are in a queue of traffic....they aren't racing, they are commuting![]()
Point of order, surely they are only commuting if going to or from a place of work
It's an interesting question, especially in view of the number of pointlessly expensive cars I see being driven around London at the weekend. Surely if you can afford to drop that much on a car, you also have a cottage somewhere at the other end of a nice fun twisty road (Oxfordshire, probably) to drive down to every weekend? Why else would you want to subject yourself to London traffic![]()
That must take a lot of bottleI get the better of a milk float every now and then ...............
