I much prefer the half toe clips, much less ouchy since I started using them. The problem I had was that with that kind of pedals I was always catching my legs even just moving my bike around.

Not sure if my BMX riding mates would disown me. Or report me to the authorities if I turned up with any sort of toe-clips on…..😂

I've over the years got my left shin when getting the right hand pedal into position to set off, you think it is out of the way but then 'whack'

With this rain teh canal paths are very muddy so the bike gets mud everywhere

so I decided I neede to replace the old park toold chain cleaner that I got many years ago
it was one fo those where you have some degreaser in the reservoir and teh chain goes through it and there are brushes that clean it

Well I had to park outside Halfords to I went in after shopping and they had one that looked aimilar

turns out it is much better then the old one - better designed and when you fiddle with it the brushes don;t fall out - with the old one it took an man "as clever as Elon Musk thinks he is" to work out how to get them back in the right place!!

anyway - used it and it is much better - chain now bright and sparkly
and re lubed - obviously!!

the degreaser that came with it was - err - rather over soapy
it took ages to clean it so it was not covered in suds !!!


I will go back to teh chap stuff I got from Screwfix

180 mile round trip down to Falmouth to pick up this 2015 Genesis Longitude. The pics showed some surface rust on a few of the parts, but the seller agreed to a price of just £200. I took a gamble and it appears to be in much better condition than I was expecting!

The rack turned out to be an Old Man Mountain rack, so I'm really pleased with the extras too

After probably way too much thinking I finally pulled the trigger on a start to my first big (24”) BMX. Wanted something in Chrome finish, something USA made - and I didn’t want plastic mag wheels.

The Postage and Import duties on two reasonable value parcels from Uncle Donald could have bought a nice bike in its own right……

Not the usual item. I’ve bought some reticulated foam for my recumbent seat. It’s meant to drain a lot quicker than more typical foam in rain. Be nice if seat didn’t stay damp in prolonged rain.

Less than £4.50 delivered, this Tang (Tvornica Alata Nova Gradiška) 10mm combination spanner. Very nice quality & similar to Unior's LSI series.
Long before Yugoslavia, this corner of the world had a history of metalwork. These two marques would have been only a 110k bike ride away: nowadays that journey would involve crossing the frontier between Croatia and Slovenia.
Tang made tools for BMW - if they are good enough for that car/ motorcycle manufacturer, then definitely ok for me & amateur attempts at fettling bicycles.

Did two rides of ~51 miles and ~3100 feet climbing using the integrated 248Wh battery last year arriving home on battery fumes (just under 10%, which isn't great for battery), using max turbo 250W while doing a max effort myself up ~250+ feet hills and sticking to ~75W eco mode everywhere else when under 25kph.

At the very least it will mean the ebike can comfortably do 60+ mile rides on my usual rolling loops of ~60 feet per mile average while getting plenty of help up hills so this year I could ride to Milland Hill like I last did on my road bike ~5 years ago, in theory should be capable of ~80 miles and ~5000 feet, the unknown is how my body will cope with rides liike that which will be longer than 3.5 hours!
