Been a busy couple of weeks: new wheels from Spa; Ultegra rim brakes; Sidi shoes; 100% glasses; Garmin Edge; Garmin Varia
If you haven't already get a lanyard for the Varia. I lost one which admittedly had got to the point of needing replacing as the battery life had got woeful. Its replacement I did fit with a lanyard which paid for itself in Sunday when the mount fell off the bike.

Not bought. But I’m really smitten by this. And it won’t be on sale forever…..

Spec can’t be beaten for the price that I can see. Ribble also offers a Lifetime frame warranty to the original purchaser. And a 30 days ‘Swap’ feature if you change your mind on the size you’ve bought……..

That's a real bargain. Quite heavy but given the gearing wouldn't be an issue on climbs.

Isn’t it a bargain ! *You think 8.4kg (From memory) is heavy - at that price point ? Also pretty flat in Suffolk……so not such an issue for 95% of my riding.

Anything ‘mainstream’ branded Merida etc with same spec is at least £1000 more, unless in a sale / last years model etc.

Infact I’m not sure that’s true. With a true Carbon Aero frame - I’m not sure there’s anything of similar weight and spec for the money….

That model is 8.9kg so yes "quite" heavy. The aero build is listed at 8.5kg. That is for a size medium. I think you'd be XL(?) so add a bit more.
Not heavy heavy but definitely not light. If you look at link you posted there's a FAQ section which lists various weights.

I'll add I'm not dissing the bike, I think it's an absolute steal at that price.

Thanks worth knowing.

I forgot to mention Ti seat post and new saddle 😀

Thank you.

There always appears to be an additional weight penalty for an Aero frame over a non Aero. The shape / bulk adding heft.

My thought being - if I’m using the bike for 2 hour blasts (On pretty flat terrain) and only essentially accelerating from near standstill a couple of times: I’m probably better to take a slight hit on the weight - to gain on the aero bars, frame and wheels…

*I’ll also have a generic non-aero, endurance type mile-muncher in the fleet.

Would of course be interested if that sounds a nonsense 😉

Makes sense to me. If you are primarily riding somewhere flat then weight penalty is pretty irrelevant and aero definitely a plus.

Ive ordered Kinesis Fend off Wide mudguards for my gravel bike which Im going to put road wheels on.
I'm barely using the bike these days after an off where I lost control of the front wheel 2 years ago on road. Id never lost a front wheel before and I can only put it down to cold numb fingers post chemo and discs. But my fingers are getting better as nerves regrow slowly and I'm going to give discs another go.

That Ribble looks lovely, but they definitely should fire the person that comes up with the names. Its a proper endurance road bike like the Endurace or Defy, at 35mm max tyre clearance its definitely not 'allroad' in the slightest.

Personally there are two things I find offputting. 1. they have stoppped letting you change bar size so you're stuck with an 80mm strem, which in conjunction with the 'endurance' geometry will mean a pretty short reach (massively shorter than I'm used to, but you may be OK with it). Secondly, the Mavic wheels whilst OK are not the sort of thing anyone would buy with their own money (not particularly light, pretty old school internal width and rim shape.) As a result, I would be tempted to buy the non-aero at £2200, then immediately stick the Mavic alloy wheels that model came with on ebay and buy some chinese carbon wheels and bars that actually fitted with the difference.
