There's some people here who either have no taste buds, have been in Britain too long, or are just making judgments on very little experience. Add up what people have said is underwhelming here and what you have left, I am not quite sure. I think I just feel sorry for some people... oh well, all the more left for the rest of us!
We all have different tastes, FM.
Horses for Courses, as the French would say.

There may be a chance for you. My Mum didn't like olives, until one day when she about 50 and at a party, she tried one again and found she loved it. I know a couple of other people whov'e had similar experiences with olives. Possibly they suit a more mature taste.

Toy with the black ones first, I find they have a less bitter flavour...

Swedish and Finnish food is pretty underwhelming on the whole - I can't say I've ever been to a restaurant there and thought it was anything special. The nicest one I've been to in Finland was a Russian restaurant, it was excellent.

Working in Uruguay, predominantly Spanish food...utter cr@p. The most bland, boring, tasteless food ive ever eaten. Two weeks of it, i lost a stone in weight and went off food for about a month. It was so bad, i stayed in the Hilton in Montevideo on my last night, the choice of what should have been a good menu, i just couldnt bring myself to be bothered with it.

Bear in mind the above aren't at resorts where you get a concoction of acceptable and cheap food, these are places off the beaten track, food eaten by locals..heaven help them.

I found the food in S. America pretty mixed. Argentina and Brazil are great (as long as you like steak) but Peru and Bolivia? Guinea Pig - yuk. Llama - yuk. Turkey testicles - yuk.Organ soup with fried egg - yuk. But then I had ceviche - raw seafood marinated in lime juice. It was absolutely delicious. Saltenas - pastries with a spicy filling - yummy.

I guess the moral is that there will be tasty dishes whereever you go - you just need to work a bit harder in some places.

Don't tastes differ as well at least partly due to water supply. If you have a can of coke for the UK market it tastes different to ones made for other markets.
