The difference they make to the temperature of your digits in the cold is astonishing.
Indeed mine mean i can wear thin full finger gloves and still have warm hands and still be able to get stuff out of jersey pockets .Its the wind chill that gets your fingers mostly , even in summer i tend to wear thin full finger gloves as it can set my hands off even if its warmish .

THE best gloves I had were not actally cycling ones but grey coloured Swedish pilots leather gloves, insulated and actually very soft and flexible
They weren't particually pretty, nor ugly, my perfect gloves for commuting, cost a tenner for lightly used ones from a military surplus store years ago.

I really need to find some more.
