Those durn' socialists...

Oh, wait...
And that’s exactly the problem for Starmer and Labour those cotton pickin‘ conservatives have pinched all their policies.

I think there are very few politicians of any colour who are genuinely out to look long term and actually build a fairer society. Unless there is a genuine shift in everyone looking long term for us all then the rich will continue to get richer and the poor poorer. Education and the realisation that it is about everyone and not the few is the way to proceed. This will sadly not happen as the capitalist overdrive I'm alright Jack, sod you mentality will not change anytime soon. There will be no stopping until everything is awarded a monetary value and someone can profit from something and anything.

Thanks chuckles.

Tory Britain.

It's what they voted for...

A return to the good old days!!

Huzzah!!

Buns and bunting for everyone

Only we no longer seem to have an Empire from which we can pinch, or 'purchase' everything, for next to nothing .

Dargnabit..

Don't forget the independently 'wealthy' who worked hard and saved hard all their lives.

You have the same number of arms, legs and eyes as me, and presumably a similarly sized cerebellum - I haven't done anyrhing in life that you couldn't have done yourself.

You make your own luck in adult life, so don't whittle about where your own life choices have left you.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to have the 'luck' if you could call it that, to 'divorce well'.

Tbh I've only just got myself civilly partnered.

Let's hope that works out ok , cos I really don't fancy having to split the farm after all the work put in to building it up. .

Chin up chook,

It's not over til it's over .

You've got to be the change you want to see..

And shifts in conciousness, do occur quite quickly sometimes.

At the very least you get to live a life aligned with your own principals

That's worth a lot more than excess riches in the bank 😇

OK, I know, I may live in a bit of a bubble of 'aligned minded types' but there's lots of youngsters around at the moment looking at how the supposed 'grown ups' have arranged, and prioritised things up til now, and who are now trying to go in what look to me at least , in 'better' directions .

Anyway , don't give up hope, just yet, don't despair .

That's what the barstewards want you to do.

Stay positive, if only to annoy them

I have always lived the life I wanted (mostly). When I've been fortunate I've tried to pay back. I'm a cynical idealist I think.

I think that's probs me too

Feet on the ground, head dreaming in the clouds of how it could all be so much better.

It really does help, your mood, if you lift your breast bone, and look up  though

Even raise your arms in the air
-assuming yr not on a bike right now

It opens your lungs, and lifts your heart

And it's free for everyone

I`m pretty sure this is turning into a political discussion and not a general topic!
There is very little, if any, fun reading this stuff so I won`t comment further other that mention to any mod that it maybe should be moved to the correct politics section with a health warning attached for anyone who suffers from depression!
;)

The need to apportion blame for every unsatisfactory aspect of life to politics or personal attitudes that you don't agree with, seems to act as a powerful gravitational force for many threads, however innocent they start off.

I just take meter readings every month phone them in pay what's exact. £37 a month.
How can it be £37 a month ? Surely you use more in winter when it's colder and nights are longer ?

I think most people pay the same but build up a credit that the winter use will eat up ?

Agreed, although probably a system that takes rural and urban mileage into account would be sensible and therefore unlikely.

If the UK does this before other countries we could be looking at a genuine Benefit Of B****t
I live in an area where I expect to get at least 10mpg less than on mainland and the price of fuel is 10p per litre more than mainland. Unfortunately I need a car as I live at the top of a long steep hill and cannot walk far. Cycling down is ok but climbing up is just too much for my aged legs.
Just the price of what used to be before staycations a nice place to live.
