I'll start praising cyclists for saving infants when they pay some road tax and stop riding in the middle of the road.

Well done that man

I hope he didn't scratch his bike
A passing cyclist leapt into action, dropping his bike before jumping into the river and plucking out both pram and baby

Well, it wasn't me, and my boss didn't come into the office dripping wet, so that rules out the two us....

Well done him!

But really. Prams mostly come with brakes these days. How daft do you have to be....?

I hope he did a full risk assesment and followed H&S guidelines

Well, to be serious for a mo....

It doesn't make it clear quite how deep the water was and so on, but lifesaving training cautions against just leaping into water. Of course, in this case it worked out ok, but more than one rescuer has got into trouble jumping into unknown water - there's the cold shock reaction, the risk of debris under the surface, all sorts. Clearly, throwing a lifebelt to a baby isn't an option, but it would be wise to at least lower oneself gently, and wade in with caution.
