I went down this descent at 80 kph (50 mph) on my geared bike but to my shock I was overtaken by a heavier rider on fixed. His cranks were doing an estimated 240 rpm***!

PS I think it was a scary thing to do, and I would never do it but he obviously knew what he was doing...

Depends on your gearing and how fast you can turn your legs over, assuming you want to stay in contact with the pedals. I can't take my usual route from the house without braking as there's about 3/4 mile of downhill with a couple of steep sections.

I'm on a 42 x 17, 65 inch gear, comfortable up to around 30mph, and spin out around 35mph.
