A wren got into the stairwell of my block of flats. I tried to catch it, but it kept flying away. Then it flew into a window and stunned itself. I picked her up and took it into the back garden (actually scrubland) and placed it on a slab of concrete. It rolled over on its back and stuck it's legs in the air. I thought that wasn't good, so I tried to put it on a cut down branch, which I thought she might find easier to stand on. It flew about a yard, then his under the woodpile. I hope she's feeling better now. Will check under the woodpile when I get home.

Edit: checked under the woodpile when I got home. It wasn't there. I knew I should have taken a photo.

There's been a big influx of redwing from the continent over the last few days. On some of the calmer, clearer nights recently here, I've been hearing their high pitched 'tseep' calls as they passed unseen overhead. There should be a couple of clearer nights coming up over the weekend, and its worth popping out for a half hour or so to hear migration in action. They've been reported even over London on some evenings.

One from last month, as I've only figured out how to post from my 'phone, but wanted to share...

We spotted this beastie slithering across the road :becool: First time I've seen an adder in the flesh, they're pretty quick, had a job getting a photo

I don't see so many Jays about these days but this one is a regular visitor to the garden:

Interesting find in the little woodland I was working in today: The often over looked stock pigeon. Near where I often see a sparrow hawk eating wood pigeon and collared dove so I presume it was a recent thump.
