Thats a blast from the past. I saw The Scorpions in Hannover, Germany, inthe early 80s.
I saw MSG on the Armed and Ready tour around the same time. Schenker was at the top of his game and just mesmerizing.

Gotta give him his dues as he's still going and despite all the ups and downs he's had to contend with

Brian May appreciates Nuno Bettencourt's solo in Get The Funk Out,and so do I.

I saw Extreme at the NEC Christmas 1992. Bettencourt was indeed a force of nature all on his own.

Resolutely on topic
One of my favourite covers of a truly great song. The absolutely effing amazing Paul Gilbert gets into his stride at about 3.30.

See, I never got Allan Holdsworth. He was undoubtedly a player of almost supernatural talent, but it always sounded a bit "Jazz Club - nice!" to me.
I know what you mean very technical and some of the songs with vocals were garbage....but, bloody hell, i saw him at the Bass Clef in London late 80s and it blew my socks off. Maybe him and Pat Metheney best jazz guitarists i have seen.
Always been a massive Mike Oldfield fan for that earthy acoustic vibe.
