Out to Clatworthy Reservoir today with a friend. This is one of the tougher rides locally, starting with typical bumpy Somerset roads and, after Wiveliscombe turning into something much tougher as you get into West Somerset.

Lunch in Whelan's cafe fuelled us.

It is a Faran but they are SimWorks X Honjo mudguards.
Thanks - I'd love one of these but couldn't justify keeping the Genesis as well given their similarity, and I don't think I could bear to part with the CdF..

Tonight exceeded any expectations I might have had upon awaking groggy mid-morning; and I couldn't resist a waft along the river and through town to the rings and shop, given how nice the weather was (the warmth has finally arrived today)

A hot 90KM ride today mostly around the villages of West Suffolk today.
Started a bit iffy as I couldn't seem to get going but after crossing over the A11 got in a nice groove and the wind seemed to ease down a bit.

Rolled through Herringswell, Tuddenham and Cavenham with a stop at Herringswell church to scoff a banana, then over the A14 to Barrow and another stop for food and a drink before heading in a general North-West direction via Dalham and Moulton.

Then back over the A14 to Isleham for another stop for a cold bottle of water to top up the bidons plus an ice-cream and back home the way I came .

Not many cyclists about but a couple of groups of motorcycles(Harleys or similar) and two Ferraris buzzing around; also saw a sparkling Honda cub but couldn't get a pic as there was a lot of traffic messing about at the pub/cafe where it was parked.

Quite a good turn out for the group ride today and we met more folk at the cafe. Which meant a nice no effort ride for me. For the 54miles with the group it was 19.6mph sitting in folks draft. It was 99% of the time the same two folk on the front and they were doing strict Z2, so when some of us offered to take the front, they declined, wanting to keep their power profile steady. It was also my semi-retired mates birthday a few weeks back but he had been away for a few weeks but wanted to maintain traditions.
I'm a bit jealous of a couple of mates who just pootled along to the pub, a beer garden would have been ideal today, but my other mates that I was drafting are too serious athletes to stop often.

I’d ridden to California 😳……(Cliffs) 🤣🤣 once before. If I remember rightly I waited for the worst of the frost to melt before departing.

So today was a whole new ballgame 👌

Hopton On Sea hasn’t gone digital yet…..

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Just a short spin as i havent been riding much at all due to work and house stuff so only did my usual " quick loop "
Catton Hall has bearded theory so there was a lot of caravans and tents in the fields with extra crossing points so that meant a couple of extra stops for people crossing .
Lots of riders out before it got too hot and i made the right choice as i definitely dont have the fitness i should atm
Just under 25 miles at a shade under 18 mph avg

A nice relaxed ride out to Raunds today. Helped by it being just 3 of us and me sitting and my mate sitting on the front. It had been a larger group but the heat saw alot of folk dropping back to the slower group, although looking at Strava they were only half a mile slower. It meant it was very nice and stable pace wise. I was surprised when my mate who normally doesn't want to stop at a cafe suggested a stop. Looks like my Garmin when it was sitting on the outside table picked up 47deg C.

Phew, what a scorcher! Just under 35 miles today in hot sunshine all the way. Two bottles of energy drink and a pint of cold cider consumed. Now home and hosed. All is well with the world. A few pictures:
First stop at Stonehouse:

Then my favourite pub for birthday meals etc, the Frocester George in Frocester. I just sheltered in the cool shade of the bus stop opposite:

Then back via Slimbridge:

Before stopping for a few minutes on a bench opposite the village green in Frampton-on-Severn:

Another 20 minutes stop in the riverside beer garden of the Anchor at Epney:

And one final stop at the canal bridge for a small tall ship to pass:

A great little ride in perfect summer conditions. 34.8 miles.

A bit of an epic today. Beautiful weather forecast and I woke early so headed to the Dales. I went out along Mewith Lane with fabulous views of Ingleborough then had a second breakfast at the Game Cock in Austwick. Suitably fortified I headed toward Penyghent up a long climb. It was here I encountered a sportive coming toward me and tried to acknowledge all 200 or more of them. The road around the flank of Penyghent is gorgeous with exposed limestone, lapwings and skylarks. It drops down to the hamlet of Halton Gill at the head of Littondale. Another fabulous road through the hay meadows coming in to flower took me to Arncliffe. Here the second big ascent started first steeply then more manageable up eventually to Malham Tarn. From here it was down to Langcliffe and lunch from the Naked Man in Settle. Settle was rammed and a bit unpleasant today with motorbikes and cars clogging the roads. Leaving Settle I found my exit blocked by Police due to an accident at a crucial junction on the A65. I attempted a detour but misinterpreted some bridleways for tarmaced roads which were unsuitable for my 28 mm tyres so ended up adding about 15 km to an already long day. Finally got back on track and arrived home with 137 km and 1718 m of climbing. A grand day out.

Photos of route passing first Ingleborough then Penyghent. Also the meadows of Littondale and the limestone of Langcliffe road.
