We were discussing Phil Collins in the pub recently and we decided he was probably the most consistent off all the artists that had been around for 30 or 40 years. Everybody else - Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Kate Bush, etc have had moments of absolute genius and also released some very dodgy stuff. Mr Collins on the other hand has struggled along like the bottom feeder he is and never raised his game above utter shite. This, we decided made him the most consistent.

Oh and Eric Clapton.

Lily (talentless trout) Allen
the Manics (if you tolerate the single the album will be next)
Arctic Monkeys (half man half biscuit without the tunes, or humour)
...all this recent crop of american bands that sound the same and have poncy names and even more ridiculous videos - especially that one about 'haven't you ever heard of closing the goddam door'. tripe, utter tripe.

all those other bands that sound just like the Chameleons, but nowhere near as good.

Pete Doohicky
Amy Wino

ohhhhhhhh, there's so many.

What about Neil Young? Not only consistently good but occassionaly brilliant.

Can I point out that Phil Collins isn't eligible for this thread. As has been pointed out, he has been consistently shite for...well, ever. His place is top of my list of people in pop I would like to kill. Just ahead of Celine Dion and Enya.
