Funny, last fall I examined a dead badger as well. I was not aware badgers lived in my area. But they do.

Well, we don’t know if they live in your area, but they certainly die in your area 😁

They wear a hockey jersey, and wear skates. This is Howler. My local coyotes just look like jackals.

I saw a dead badger at the side of the road about 40 years ago. I assumed it was roadkilll, but then saw a piece in the local rag about it having been dumped there by badger baiters.

The only other badgers I've seen are the family of live ones that live in the woods next to Barrow House YHA. The staff put kitchen scraps out for them, and they come out at dusk for a feast whilst the hostellers watch.

was examining an enormous dead porcupine one day. I was getting close with a camera & I got stuck w/ a quill! to the best of my knowledge, I did not make contact w/ the beast. keep your distance from those!
