My bike had a book price of £3600 4 years ago , I got it for 1/2 of that , it was new old stock , it had a scratch on the crossbar , the bike I think had been set up for another , ie seat height and forks cut to suit . The brand is not to well known in UK . At the book price I would never have bought it , but after owning and riding it , id say I It would have been worth the 3.6k initial asking price. Admittedly, I have modified the cassette and rear deraileur to accommodate my gammy leg , but it’s a dream to ride.
So it could be that the brands that are better known in UK are selling well, Giant,Trek, Specialised, Cannondale to name a few . Lesser known brands may well be easily available and every bit to the same spec. As per my BH .

Stunning, as you say. :becool: Enjoy and don't mind the pathetic comments from those who clearly need to seek professional counselling; some issues Forums aren't going to solve for them other than give them space to spew snide, immature drivel but, ultimately, you have a great bike to enjoy, they don't. ^_^
Nice one. I checked, this is a cycling forum!

There has always been a degree of inverse snobbery round here. As soon as someone wants to, or has spent what they are confortable with, but others aren’t, on a bike, they have more money than sense. This is despite them having the sense to get the money in the first place.
I’ve never noticed the same being applied to other areas of life, like houses or food. Clearly if you buy anything other then Tesco value baked beans, you have more money than sense.
I love cycling and will encourage anyone to do it. It doesn’t matter if they have a £50 bike or a £15,000 bike, as long as they enjoy themselves and more importantly, the cost of someone else’s bike doesn’t impinge upon my enjoyment of the sport I love.
I would say £15,000 is going over the top to a tight arse like me. On the other hand if you want to save the world from global warming then spending £15,000 on a bicycle instead of car is the way to go.

Indeed, precisely, it’s nothing to do with common sense however. It’s just a different opinion on value, different preference or desire, different circumstance  it’s not like a 5k bike ceases to have any value, although it will likely depreciate. It’s not a gamble like sticking 5k on a horse

Clearly spending £5k on a Matt black bike shows a complete lack of common sense

You cannot discriminate like that, I spent ages in a motorcycle showroom once deciding on matt black or white for a bike

Omg it's getting a bit sexual on here 😂
Yes people talking like C**ks🤪

I don't l play well with bullies I tend to retaliate which they can't seem to handle

I spent much of my school life bullied. I dont see in any of the messages any bullying towards you, so please don't roll out that crap. I only joined recently but of the threads I read, and those which contain comments from you, it follows a similar theme. You come across bitter and grumpy...... you like to piss on peoples chips which may be what gives you a ‘little stiffy‘, if its not too expensive to have one that is. They in turn comment back, you dont like it but its not bullying in any way pal.

I see quite a few BH bikes where I live, always wondered about them. Now I shall do some research.

Now thats a cool bike! I suspect you are right, BH, Wilier, Whyte etc great bikes but not being well known might put people off. Best alu road bike i have owned (and its a few) is a Ghost made in Germany.

I'm turning my expensive bike into my dream bike off the back of the money saved not going to the pub twice a week, an expensive hobby few would question...

That and flogging a tonne of bike bits that won't find a home on anything and realising a lot more cash than I thought they would, or indeed should.

Even high end parts are proving hard to come by at the moment, suggesting at least a few other people are doing likewise.

I dont think Whyte have much stock, certainly up round here everywhere has nothing. Did see someone had the Whyte Wessex one discounted to 1799 in a 56 but other than that 🤷‍♂️
