I was actually looking at ski gloves originally but couldn't find a cheap pair. Tkmaxx had some decent ones but they were all around £12.

To be fair, I do feel like a Power Ranger when I wear them. I assumed the hard plastic bits are for low hanging branches though there aren't many on the canal path

They are for when you crash spectaculaly into that tree or rock on the local black run . Decathlon and Aldi have MTB gloves like those, but without the armour. I find thick gloves on the MTB affect grip and brake feel (especially when your brakes need just one finger).

Seems to be part of a wider sale too.

Also available via Debenhams if that works for you... It works for me in terms of collection and returns. I find craghoppers sizes hop around.

I will check out the ski gloves in Tkmaxx again then if £12ish is cheap. Can't remember the brands but they must be ok as a woman bought 2 pairs whilst I was looking. I'm just quite tight with money and it seemed a lot.

Not cycling gear, but Mountain Warehouse have some cheap coats on their eBay store. I got this for £21 delivered, whereas it's about £35 on their main website.

Edit: Mine arrived yesterday. Very happy with it for the money. Feels quite thin but was warm enough on a cold day. Excellent value at £21 delivered. Only downside is there is no inside pocket to put my phone in.
