Halfords is a strong favourite 👍 The Boardman shorts get good write ups and won't break the bank. I'll take a look at Altura too. Thanks 👍

Sportpursuit have good deals, need to sign up to view and they don't do free delivery/returns but they can have bargains from Pearl Izumi, Sugoi, Rivelo etc so a good bet if you know what you want / size needed etc
There's also a website called Cyclestore that often has clearance deals

Been searching for a great value winter cycling jacket for a year and I'm so relieved I've found exactly what I wanted. The new jacket will be used mainly for commuting and occasionally for days in the saddle (average 8 to 10 mile commute in all weathers, maybe 30 - 50 mile days out) and replaces a similar old ALDI Crane Sports jacket that has given great service.

I wanted a jacket that was (almost) waterproof but didn't feel like I was wearing a plastic bag. And I didn't want it to be insulated as I intend to wear it on wet, cooler summer days too. Nor did I want a tight fit and this jacket is a "comfortable" fit so I can wear layers beneath if I wish. There's a mesh around the body and the longer-than-normal sleeves are lined with a slippery cloth which really aids putting it on. The hem and cuff feature adjustable tie-strings and the collar is tall and snug. There's one front pocket and the usual middle back pocket, both zipped.

Mountain Warehouse isn't a cycling specialist and this jacket is not even sold as a cycling jacket, when it so clearly is - I think it falls below the radar. This weekend, Mountain Warehouse appear to be offering a further 20% reduction, which makes this item an absolute bargain. And my local M.W. store had all sizes in stock earlier in the week. I found the sizes to be larger than normal but your mileage may vary. The jacket looks well constructed - far better than some big name efforts I've examined that were three times more expensive (and three times more uncomfortable). I can well believe that M.W. once sold this item for £75.

Have you actually used it as suspect I it will be like wearing a plastic bag. It one of these shops that always having a sell I bet most of the stuff has only been full price for long enough to make the legal requirements. It’s cheap for a reason.

With the advent of winter knocking firmly on the door this week I have finally had to force open my wallet and buy some replacement boots.

For the last 8 years I have been using a pair of Shimano MW7 which have finally split along the sole and the various eyelets have failed beyond all sensible repair.

Given they have given 8 years almost daily winter service and that I like the fit replacing them like for like seemed a sensible option.

I had an eye on them on Winstanley's (£140 + delivery) but they seemingly dont want to respond to my queries via email, so when I saw them on offer at www.bikeparts.co.uk For almost the same price (£148) which seems as cheap as they get with most other retailers being £170-£220.

I've finally had a clear out of 'way past their sell by date' bib shorts. I had no choice. SWMBO gave the order. I'm a career tight arse. When I part with money it's like losing a family member. I've had Giordano, Endura, DHB and many other brands including the worst of Planet X. Has anyone recently found any bargains? I need some that'll stand the test of time and last me 25 years or more like the ones being thrown away. I suppose the budget is under £70 but for something exceptional I might go a bit higher.

I have a similar parsimonious approach.

I have just acquired 2 pairs of these, the colour is as, ahem, striking, as it seems, but doesn't seem to get too many comments..

I find the eBay can offer some real bargains for clothing. Especially "worn once doesnt fit me types" I bought some Craghopper trousers that are normally about £50 for about £3 a few weeks ago, even with the p&p at a fiver they was still a bargain. when they came they even had some of the labels attached and were in the original opened packaging.

Good price. I've got two pairs of MW7's - both older models - one all velcro, and one with BOA. Also got RW5's for the road bikes.

I've found Bikeparts to be a wholly reliable company to deal with too. :okay: Order quite a bit of bits and pieces from them now.

Shoes are one of those things that is incredibly personal but for my feet i cant beat Shimano Shoes.

I quite fancy a summer type trainer-leaning type shoe, but can't decide. This is the current fave.

https://www.bikeparts.co.uk/product...27741&pr_ref_pid=7638207201437&pr_seq=uniform But not at that price

They do last though. I have six pairs of Shimano shoes, but, the soles and fit have changed on some of the newer shoes. My more recent gravel shoes are a tighter fit in the toe box !
