I think so, but I don't do much measuring really. I've got the 25mm version on my fixer and my Mercian and they seem fine. Downhill freewheeling I seem to hold my own or gain on other people (although Galileo aside, that might be due to the rider+bike mass)

@jefmcg, I think they've been on for 18 months, but I don't have computers on either bike, so distance measurement is unavailable.

I get that downhill too, might be cos I'm a bit 'hefty' these days as well.

Durano Plus go on for ever IME, so lifetime operating costs could outweigh the initial expense. I don't think I've had a puncture in mine yet and the rubber is starting to get a bit thin.

I haven't posted my picture of a pallet nail in a Durano Plus tyre for a while. So here goes. The nail is quite long, about half of it is embedded in the tyre. It didn't puncture the inner tube.

Durano Plus resists nail in tyre.

I've been riding Durano Plus for (wild guess) 7,000km and I have had two punctures. One was a very big chunk of glass, the other was a slow one discovered at home. Can't remember what caused that.

@jefmcg ... do they roll well? I'm not enough of a connoisseur of rollingness to say. They do roll, I can say that much.

I'm heading off now to collect my e-bay "win" (Ridgeback Panorama). It's a 900 mile round trip! I will be making a short holiday of it though; a few nights camping in Oxfordshire incorporating some mileage on the new steed.

Bit pricier but my Hutchinson Sectors have been ace so far,tubeless but I did run them with tubes for a bit;might be a bit tight on those old school rims.

I'd be sort of tempted to seek out some tubeless rims at some point,think Superstar have some decent priced ones or maybe even some hand-builts?

What's the benefit of tubeless rims on a commuter/shopping bike that'll do around 500 miles a year if that? I'd like something fairly slick, not too heavy but puncture resistant. I use slick Vittoria Rubinos on the road bikes, I could get the same but the 28s have the tread pattern which I'm not keen on

+1 for Durano's, I've been using the standard version for much longer than any other tyre I've used and it still looks like it'll go on forever. I'd imagine the + versions are better still. There's also the new 'DD' models which appear to be a halfway house between the two.

I had a fair old round trip (125 miles) on Saturday to pick up my new purchase off a fellow cc'r. Chuffed to bits with it hope to get it on the road this week. Plastic fantastic

I find the terminology a bit odd too. "Won" in the ebay context could mean "I've scored a real bargain" or alternatively "I have just foolishly agreed to pay over the odds". I typically use the term "bought".
