Also the 2020 Figura is supposed to be an even better ergonomic than the older (pre 2020) version, but again will I notice and is it worth the premium?

I ride a proper road bike, but with flat bars. Saddle and bars level. The Spoon works well for that, no extra padding needed, not that it's very hard anyhow. But naturally, all bums are different, so...

I'd say to stick with cheaper saddles until you have some idea what shape/style/size works for you, and only then get something lighter (if you feel the need). Unless you're lucky, it could take a few attempts to find the right saddle shape.
For example, I found the saddle on my Trek bike to be uncomfortable initially, so got a cheap-ish gel saddle from Amazon. That was better to start with, but I found the gel to actually cause chafing after an hour or two on the bike. I bought a Madison Flux (same as the Charge Spoon) as so many recommended it, but found the lack of a centre cutout to be a major problem. That saddle, however, made it clear to me that that type of shape and more curved surface was the way to go (my Trek saddle had a fairly flat surface and a different shape). I finally got a good deal on a Fizik Aliante, which I'm pretty happy with for now.

See if any shops local to you have demo saddles. For a small fee, you can test ride saddles and find which one works best for you

Thanks all, I suppose it depends on what you mean by 'cheaper' saddles? To some that is under £100 to others it's under £20?

I don't have the opportunity to ride to a LBS even if they did have emo saddles (which around here I doubt) as they are all a fair way from me, across town and via lots of very busy main roads etc. I'll pass on that one I think.

Charge Spoon get good reviews....https://road.cc/content/review/4230-charge-spoon-ti-saddle
Any experience of these? Do they have any padding/gel insert or are they rock hard?
At 145mm width they should be OK for my sit bones?

I have the ladle (ladies equivalent) on one bike and another to fit. They are padded, working for me at the moment, and lots of folk like the Spoon but not everyone. Some people prefer a cut out saddle
I think it’s padded with foam but I wouldn’t know the difference, don’t think I’ve ever had a gel saddle!
I think 145mm is fairly average for a male pelvis

From what I read before purchase, my Madison Flux has slightly more padding than the (otherwise identical) Charge Spoon. I'd say the Flux has a little padding, but not much (i.e. it's not rock hard).

See what you mean about the Flux. Looks the same as the Spoon, can't comment on the padding though.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I have the spoon and they are comfy although firm a similar but a bit more soft is the fabric scoop radius , same shape but i found the padding a bit softer
make sure you get the radius as there are 3 sorts all called scoop but the others are flatter, i tried them and i found they didn't suit me

OK, so I think I've whittled it down to these, tell me what you think and if possible why?
I appreciate it's very personal but I'm asking for advice on the quality etc. of these saddles and especially any personal experience of their comfort etc?
In no particular order of preference...
