The original “Tour of Rome” was at first a minor bike race, due to the fact that there were only 7 hills. However, it later expanded to become what we now know as the Giro D’Italia.

The “Tour of Yorkshire” was developed as an alternative to the “Tour of Rome” and the Giro, as there were several towns with 7 hills. While the Yorkshire event does not have the same status as the premium Italian event, it allows each bike team’s second-string riders to compete for the prized “Golden Black Pudding”.

There were originaly 8 hills in Rome then a deal was done in 2BC with the Celts who purchased the 3rd biggest and had it transported to Wales. They then renamed it Snowdon.
You can still see it today of you go west from Llanterswhatsitgogosillio
And they moved it on rollers on land, on a giant pontoon for the trip across the water.
