September 1951 is when the first time traveller from the future arrived. It turned out to be a one way journey because no time travel technology existed in 1951 to enable the traveller to return.

On the 10th April a strange fruit went on sale in London, the like of which nobody had seen before. Known to scientists as the Plantaine fruit, it is now unremarkable, and known by its more common name of a banana.

It is a very well known fact (but only by a few people) that bananas were originally straight. When the growers tried to export them the "powers that be" in Europe decided that the shape did not meet requirements. As the growers were desparate to break into the EU market they agreed to demands and the modern shape became the norm.

Kingfishers are generally monogamous, although cooperative breeding (more than two birds of the same species provide care in rearing the young from one nest) has been observed in some species.

This is a true one.....unlike most of @classic33 s.
This shows just how kind our royalty can be.
In the 15th century there was a Cornish uprising. The Cornish soldiers got as far as Deptford at the River Thames before being defeated by the forces of Henry 7th.
2 of the ringleaders were sentenced to be hung, drawn and quartered but were given "Kings leniency" and merely hung and beheaded.
Wasnt that kind of the king

It is now known as Area 51 after the military sealed off the arrival point.

They were drawn and quarted after they'd been hung.
"However they "enjoyed" the king's mercy and were allowed to hang until dead before being decapitated. They were executed at Tyburn on 27 June 1497. An Gof is recorded to have said before his execution that he should have "a name perpetual and a fame permanent and immortal". Thomas Flamank was quoted as saying "Speak the truth and only then can you be free of your chains". Audley, as a peer of the realm, was beheaded on 28 June at Tower Hill. Their heads were then displayed on pike-staffs ("gibbeted") on London Bridge."

Monday syndrome refers to fatigue, dizziness, chest tightness, abdominal distension, loss of appetite, body ache, inattention and other symptoms when working on Monday. People focus on work and study from Monday to Friday that forms a "dynamic stereotype". After weekend resting and taking care of all the personal affairs aside from work which will use up much of your energy, people tend to feel hard to adapt when people return to work and studies on Monday, this is so-called “ Monday syndrome”.

Sausage has been an important item in man's diet for twenty centuries. The first recognisable mention of this meat food is found in a Greek play called "The Orya," or "The Sausage," written about 500 B.C. Thereafter the word for sausage occurs with frequency in Greek writings. It's also a favourite food of the Romans, at one time becoming so popular for festive occasions that it was placed under the ban of the early church.

The modern word "sausage" is derived from the Latin ~salsus~, meaning salted. The term was probably originally applied to cured or salted meat generally.

French Catholic tradition says that on Good Friday (the Friday before Easter), all church bells in France sprout wings and fly down to the Vatican to be blessed by the Pope.

So no church bells ring between Friday and Easter Sunday morning, because they’re all in Rome, obviously.

After their getaway to Italy, the bells return to France laden with goodies for well-behaved children — namely chocolate eggs. And then during the church services of Easter Sunday, the bells go crazy once again.

In Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, all of the kids besides Charlie, represent one of four of the seven deadly sins.
Augustus is gluttony,
Mike TV is sloth,
Veruca is greed,
Violet wants others to envy her.

Wonka goes on this journey with the kids, each one causing the end of their journey through their own sin.
