Where can I get a large saddle bag and or a frame bag from without paying an absolute fortune.

It doesn't necassarily have to be waterproof as I will put anything/everything I need to keep dry in dry bags.

Does it have to be that big?

No, i'm just trying to tour without panniers so i'm trying to get some weight off my back / getting everything to fit somewhere.

I ideally wanted to put a sleeping bag in it.

Have you got a rack?

Last year, I used a Carradice Nelson longflap for a 7-day camping tour, with the tent strapped to the top. The bag was attached via a Carradice SQR seatpost block, and supported by a rack. Worked fine, and the tent perched on the bag provided kind of a backrest :becool: ... this year though I used panniers and found them overall more convenient.

That's a bit personal! And anyway, Redbike is a bloke.
A carrier rack on his/her bicycle, silly.;)

I'd consider one. Makes your bike far more useful.

My last tour was done with a Carradice Cadet (smallish) with a tent held on the rack with duck tape. Worked beautifully.
