Tandem front shift not quite right and hasn't been for ages. It's outside of the nominal spec so can be a little temperamental.

In no particular order:

Fitted asymmetric shim
Reset derailleur height
Reset derailleur angle
Faffed about with cable tension
Removed bar tape
WD40 down cable outers
Replaced cable
Swapped derailleur for a spare I have
Repeated most of above several times.

Now working perfectly, though I'm not at all sure what was actually needed...

How ‘annoying’. In that you've fixed it (Well done for stubbornly getting on with it !) - but don’t ultimately know why. THAT would screw with my head a bit……

Top-Hat crank adaptor supplied with the front chainring for my ongoing BMX build: was mild steel / already showing ‘micro rusting’ and generally she-ite.

So this Morning I’ve machined one out of Aluminium. Will hand finish tonight - but will be 100 times better 👌

Well, I have my suspicions... ...I'm pretty sure there was friction in the cable, and the derailleur was originally set up in a bit of a rush. So a combination of new cable, lube in the outer and getting the right height and angle probably all improved things. I'm not sure the asymmetric shim was 100% necessary, but I think (though haven't measured) the chainline on the tandem is further out than typical.

It's set up as 24/36/46 vs Sora standard 30/39/50 so it's unsurprising it needs a careful fettle. I did find getting the angle right both difficult and *really* sensitive - it makes a huge difference to shifting and much more that I thought. I ended up using a spirit level against the derailleur to check the angle, which helped to be consistent with changes.

My Endura Humvee Lite shorts got 'fettled' today by my sister!

I find Endura sizing a bit tight. They say that I should be size L, but XL is better for me. Go a size bigger unless you really want your kit on the tight side. Once again, XL turned out right for me.
Actually... After a few months of riding in them and having lost more weight, it turns out that elasticated waist size L would have been better for me than elasticated XL.

Yes, the XL shorts are very comfortable but they tend to work their way down as I am riding.

My sister just sewed pleats in on the left and right sides of the waistband, taking it in around 5 cm. There is still some stretch left in the waistband for comfort, but the shorts should stay up better now. I will go out for a test ride later.

Solved an irritating noise from the rear end…. Was sure it was saddle related so stripped, tightened and waxed the Brooks, nope. Next thought it might be spokes, nope. Brakes were not catching, tyre seemed seated, skewer and axle was ok. Had to be a loose cassette, took it off cleaned it and tightened the lock ring, still no. Finally noticed some threads from the upper jockey wheel, removed remaining fragments of cleaning cloth and silence restored!

Brompton rear wheel was wobbling, again, I happened to be passing work, so I went in and stripped down the hub, packed it full of grease, and spent ten minutes fiddling about trying to get the hub to a point where the hub turned, and the axle didn't wobble.
Failed.
On top of that, The hub refused to change into first gear: the cable moved, but the spring in the hub wasn't pulling it.
Took it to bits again, cleaned, sprayed several sections with WD40, found I'd installed a washer sloppily, so the spring had nothing to push against. Re-installed, put more grease in, put hub back together, spent ten more minutes fiddling about trying to get the hub to a point where the hub turned, and the axle didn't wobble.
Failed.
Eventually compromised: the axle moves much less than before, and the hub runs rather better so it doesn't feel like I'm fighting the bike.
I'm keeping an eye on the back wheel and listening for cracks and rattles.

I checked my tyres to see if the wear hole thingys were still visible and they were. Checked chain wear and the 100% still is sticking out.
