Finally cleared some space in the garage so spent some time this morning trying to figure out how to fit some wall mount bike hooks - it's a 70 year old concrete prefab garage with 3/4" thick walls so not the easiest to work with.

Ended up screwing some 2x4 offcuts to the wall with some no more nails type adhesive for extra strength. Then mounted some plywood across the front and screwed the bike hooks into the 2x4s. Not the most elegant solution but it seems to be holding and I've now got half the bikes organised.

Still need to tidy up the rest of the garage though.

I assembled a concrete garage in the 70s and needed shelving storages I drilled two holes through the concrete panel and fed 3/8” coach bolts through and also through wooden battens secured with flat washers and nuts. Very secure battens which carries the shelving brackets.

That was definitely a thought I had - but unfortunately that side of the garage is side on to the next door neighbours garage - which is similarly constructed, and their isn't enough room to squeeze my fat arse between them to fit the bolts.

Spent the morning attempting to sort out our Fakro windows which are like Velox but with an extra function which isn’t functioning and despite our efforts still isn’t.

For re connection of a chain quick link, I find easy. Just get the links into the aligned position, the link must be on the top side of the cass to chainring. Then a quick thump on the pedal, engages the link.

Removing the link, I use the cheap narrow pliers available most cyclists outlet

A good mornings work on top secret Birdy project - oh whoops cat is out of the bag - oh well you might as well know, so the front forks were getting a little stiff to fold so I stripped the pivots down, the plastic bushes had got some ingrained dirt which cleaned off easily restoring the nice buttery smooth folding action. Then onto the crankset/BB replacement, the old crankset came off easily enough but the BB was very stiff and graunchy in it's threads so I blew the dust off the BSA thread tap set, which only gets used once every 5 years but is a godsend, and with shiny clean restored threads the new Shimano BB was installed with plenty of Silkolene Race Grease. While I am waiting for a Wolftooth chainring to turn up for the new Shimano GRX crankset I will restore the rear subframe pivot which is also a bit stiff. Number of cups of tea drunk - 2 so far today.

Changed the seat post on the weigh CX build to one with more layback , supplied by @midlandsgrimpeur thank you very much. It's within a couple of mm of where it should be now rather than the 2cm to far forward I had it set at before.
Next up is changing the canti brake bridge as the current set up means I can't run the brakes close enough for good braking so that I can get the wheel out the in the event of a flat .might switch to a different design that has more play ?

Puzzle game procrastinator!
I put some spare bar tape under the original bar tape on the tops of the handlebar on my best bike. I want to see how much difference it makes to comfort when riding rough local roads.

I am not great at wrapping bar tape so I will probably get an ex-mechanic pal to rewrap them for me at some point.

I will do some test rides first though since he isn't around at the moment.
