Added more ‘Blue’ to the latest BMX build via new seat-clamp, bar ends and pedals. And added grip donuts. That’s it now: happy 😁 And moving on to the next…..

Put the ebike back together. Been off the road since end of April. I started an end of spring service and discovered spokes pulling through the rims. Fortunately my health's been good over summer so not needed it. So rim replaced (by local wheel builder) and fitted new chain, cassette and GRX chainset (the original Samox wasn't only managed about 2000km before the teeth wore out).

Brakes

Intended to replace disc pads today as more (hydraulic) lever travel indicated worn pads. But on removing pads, checking with vernier, found they still had approx 2mm of material. Shimano says replace when they drop below 1mm and danger of imminent brake failure if they get to 0.5mm. Rotors at 1.7mm and should replace when they get close to 1.3mm. Problem must therefore be air in the hoses. Removed front calliper from fork, inserted bleed block, then bled front brake. Did same for rear. mineral oil wiped away. Pads replaced.

Headset

Headset a bit loose, so tightened that up

Pedals

Replaced some very old pedals with new ones

Cleats

Replaced cleats on shoes. New pedals came with set of cleats. Had to poke out the hardened dirt that was in the hex head bolts of old cleats.

Result

All good, normal excellent braking restored, steering sharp and agile again, pedal / cleat engagement good.

Tomorrow it’s time to replace the tired looking bar tape.

Rebuilt bike after getting back from hol and did a brake and headset service. Headset though on my Canyon has the crap acros thing to tighten which is literally a piece of plastic so it's always a worry I will strip thread.
I'm planning on ride today but after that weather is terrible again plus I'll be putting bike back into box ready to fly Tuesday so hardly worth building back up for one ride but hey ho.

Changed my rear pads on Magura calipers

Left it, accidentally to the latest point. Fortunately rotors aren't damaged

Friday 24th

Just purchased a new cassette
(‘Tiagra’/10-speed/12-28)

The shifting on my work bike has started acting strangely over the past few days

Curiously, the shifting was fine in 4th/5th
Then, jumping in the intermediates
8th/9th were fine again, so indexing must be okay
I’ll swap it in the morning, but might drive to work tomorrow afternoon?
I’ll ride over on Sunday to watch the Cyclo-Cross in a local park, & see who l still know competing

The tubeless rim tape on the gravel bike has completely failed, to be fair it's been going a while and I kind of ignored it until I couldn't any longer. Which to be fair was bloomin stupid, not only do it entail me limping the bike home the other day, but the inner section of rim has been flooded with sealant which has congealed around the spoke nipples. Essentially my laziness has caused a bloomin mess. So after fighting to remove the tire, I then spent over an hour cleaning the gunk from the rim and with a pair of tweezers removed the worst of the snot from the spoke holes. I then started to tape up the rim with new tape, using a hairdryer to warm it up and make it more pliable. I got within 5cm of the end and ran out of tape, blast it. So I'll need to pop an order into the online bike shop, frustrating, but there we go. In the meantime I'll have a ratch around and see if I have a tube knocking around and maybe stick that in for the interim.

i had a look at it this morning, with the intention of swapping to the new cassette, but, upon putting the tool onto the lock-ring, it was loose:blush:
S0, I just tightened it up, & set the wheel back
It'll keep as a spare for after this winter, as the other's been on for about 4 years (& almost 'everyday' useage)
Upon a ride this afternoon, over to 'Squires', it was fine
Then when I got home, I remembered about the cyclo-cross:cursing:

Oh well, there's one in Pontefract park (where the racecourse is), when I'm on a Sunday off, next month

Monday 27th

Took the rack off my wifes unused (probably since Covid) Boardman hybrid & transferred it to my work-bike
I usually just stuff my sandwiches/etc in the jacket back pockets
(& take fresh/collect dirty uniform, when I go in car on a weekend)

I think I'll have to move the lower seat-post light though, as it's now partially concealed
