In other news, Ronnie took Hossein Vafaei to the cleaners 13-2 finishing the match with a session to spare, and Neil Robertson lost 13-7 to Jack Jones.

The Rocket is going to take some beating!

Looked very gracious / sporting in thrashing him too: considering how his opponent shot his mouth off pre-match.

I think Hossein learned a fair few lessons these last couple of days.

They'll stand him in good stead for the future - he's a brilliant talent, just needs to find the right headspace. Mind you, it was good watching him do a number on Ding in the first round.

Meanwhile, down in That London:

Extinction Rebellion has agreed to help guard the London Marathon from protesters on Sunday in a unique deal to protect one of the “crown jewels” of British sport.

The extraordinary arrangement was revealed by event director Hugh Brasher on Wednesday after a meeting with the environmental group, which is expected to attract thousands of people to The Big One festival in Parliament Square this weekend.

“I have just come from a meeting with Extinction Rebellion,” Brasher said. “They will be uniquely asking all their participants to help guard the London Marathon. To do something that is quite unique in their history – to protect what is one of the crown jewels of British sport.

We can't be sure they rank the marathon above the snooker in their "jewels of British sport" - different org - but it seems likely. Controversial ....

As a complete aside is there a Women's snooker league/championship/etc. or do they, if there are any, compete alongside the men?

As it seems it would be a sport (if it is a sport) can compete as equals although like darts they don't appear to get the same beer belly.

Yes there is.

I believe some of the current women players entered the current men's world championship but got knocked out in the qualifying stages.
