I'd take Brecel to lead overnight as Selby will be feeling the effects of a long, grinding match with only a short break. No idea of the eventual result but it will be better for the game if the Belgian wins as it will generate a lot of interest in mainland Europe.

He will be the first non English speaker to win.

Let’s hope the scores stay close and it goes mostly to the wire ! **I’d have to say at this stage I’ll be cheering on Brecel inside. Unknown to the masses before Mid-April, talented beyond belief, seemingly plays fearlessly and often almost exhibition shots at make or break times - and of course as much as anything a new winner, a breath of fresh air and a changing of the guard so to speak…….

Selby is still dangerous. He just doesn't go away.

Whoever wins this is the most enjoyable final since '85, when I was one of the 18.5 million who stayed up to watch the after midnight finish.

but the way Brecell is playing I am changing over I think

Certainly not writing Selby off - you never can - he may well come back
