Here for rides.
Only a madman would leave a bike in hull city centre. We have had two or three people standing outside guarding them at all times, on a sort of rota system
My sanity has been questioned on many occasions.

I now use the cycle hub at Hull station, since our secure cycle storage at work was removed . It's £1 a day & more secure than city centre. If anyone wants to leave their bikes there let me know & I'll see if I can sort a deal out if there's a few :okay: You'll still need a lock, but the area is locked out of hours & staffed during opening times

I would definitely be interested. Just bought a better lock today anyway but the cycle hub definitely sounds a good idea

Won't know for certain till I'm back in on Wednesday or Thursday, but I'm confident I can get you Selby to York cheaper than £13.30 :okay: Not sure on the Hull to Selby bit though  If you want to play it safe & pay £6 that'll see you right ^_^
No, that's fine, I'm happy to let you sort it and square it up with you on the night. Just let me know what time we're leaving so I can set my alarm clock.

I like the sound of that. Worth a quid by the sound of things.

So I've got some new lights (thanks for the recommendation @T.M.H.N.E.T), new water bottles, I've decided on the commuter (broader gear length to suit my 'spinner' style), choice bibshorts or MTB baggies (depending on how the last-minute diet goes this week), and plenty of sunscreen - so I'm good to go! :okay:

Some people seem to be leaving Hull as late as 2pm, so clearly expect to inhale a lot of beer. Others are leaving earlier. It's entirely up to you how late you want to stay. However, disappearing 10 - 11 ish or even earlier won't cause offence.

And yes, take a lock. And not a little cable one, as at breakfast the bikes won't be immediately in front of you.

12:38 train booked...I wouldnt want to miss out inhaling any beer. At least when my wife comments on my wobbly legs when I get home I can blame it all on my first 70 mile cycle.

From Adam's missive of 11 June 2017:

Hi everyone.

Thanks for signing up for this night ride. This is one of our longer routes at 70 miles although as anyone who cycles in the local area will know, it's fairly flat. In fact in the first half, there's nothing more than a 2% gradient, although the second half is a bit steeper (and that's also factoring in the little climb up to the Humber Bridge). For anyone who's done this ride before, we're using a different set of roads for the first half. The halfway stop is at the village hall in Garthorpe where volunteers will be providing hot drinks, sandwiches and cake for fixed price of £7.

The expected arrival time in Hull is 08:30 and breakfast should be available at the Admiral of the Humber Weatherspoons. I say should be available, as the pub is currently being refurbished, and despite it being covered with hoardings saying it re-opens on Friday 23rd and their Head Office saying it should be open, I do have a Plan B and a Plan C just in case!

The ride sets off by the steps on the western side of York Minster (High Petergate) at midnight, so please make sure you're there at least 20 minutes before, to be checked off my list and to participate in the safety briefing.

There'll be another email in about 10 days time.

Regards,

Adam

I'm closing in on York Minster. I reached Grantchester today. 108 miles to Louth tomorrow and not much less to York on Friday. I 'm keen to know a rendezvous
