That's farking grim. I don't even want to imagine how much of a disaster this is for your every day life. I've heard that a plant based diet can help with diabetes.

Not with T1.

I have been struggling for a while due to diabetic retinopathy. I've had a vitrectomy in both eyes and was hoping for the best I have new stronger glasses and I thought I could see quite well but...it was not to be I came off just riding around the block because my eyes do not react quickly enough.
So my question to you is: how do i sell my bikes and parts my helmets, shoes and clothing. Remember i am in Montreal Canada.
So sorry to hear.

I'm very sorry to read this it must be a difficult decision to take.

I have disabled son who loves to cycle on a tandem with me, his carers or one of the volunteers who give time each month. There is also a group in the area who take out people with poor sight on tandems. It's quite common to see them on Sundays.

There are possibilities, hopefully you will find one to suit yourself.

Good luck!!

Hi again.
How passionate are you about cycling buddy. It may not be an answer to your problems, but have you considered a tandem. Cycling is not just about keeping you fit, it's also good at lifting your mind, and a day out with a cycling buddy on a tandem may be better than you would may of considered..I know its easy for someone to suggest something without actually being in that situation but maybe you could try and borrow one before you committed to buying one. Its not ideal by a long way but you never know , you may enjoy it physically and most of all mentally.
I can imagine your feeling
a little low at the moment with the prospect of not cycling ever again but in a few months time you may get that itch to try a tandem, so for now try and hang on to your cycling gear just in case you have a change of heart.
All the best.
Johnny

As long as I breathe, I attack.
That sucks, poor you

Depends very much on your sight, but would going off-road on tow-paths or gentler bridleways be an option rather than cycling on the road? Or even something more stable like a trike?

What about a 3 wheel recumbent?
My thoughts too, you see hand bike riders and even one legged riders so there is a way if you still have the desire .
I hope things turn out ok for you .

Okay to directly answer the question - You can sell either on Kijiji, or, if it is higher end stuff, Pinkbike is the best way.

On the other hand, so many riders are using computer programs like Zwift now, you can still ride, train, and race all over the world without leaving the house.

What an awful disease - my very best wishes for you and your family in the future.

Having been misdiagnosed with a very nasty disease a year back I have a bit of an insight as to what you, and those close to you, must be going through. I hope that you are together able to find a way through and enjoy life as best as you can.

Until something like this happens it is very easy to take good health for granted - I certainly did until last year. It really does put things into perspective and you quickly realise that good health is way more important than all of the things (particularly material) that our society seems to value so highly.

Good luck to you.
