He is really Norway's equivalent to Lady Chatterley's gardener and we all know where that lead ;)

If the club allows women?

That is a wonderful piece of art-work too

Firefighter sometimes dangerous sometimes tragic and sometimes very rewarding
True!
A friend of mine was also in Trumpton, forget whether he was Cuthbert, Dibble, or Grubb?
Now he's retired (@ 50?), & is a damned good Triathlete, and also holds almost every record for his running club, as a V40, & a V50

Copper here, if you like the idea of everyone telling you how to do your job with regular violence and abuse directed at you plus the added bonus of death and mutilted human beings and tragic broken lives then this could be your dream job!
Again, sadly true, and, it could almost be the same for a ParaMedic, or A&E staff
Plus, having to cover for almost every other (social/caring) agency, after 17:00 on a Friday

We see plenty of your collegues (from our own area, obviously though) at my place of work, bringing in the drunks. druggies, 'MISPERs', 'Arrest Avoidance Syndromers (who curiously develop a chest pain upon arrest & are taken to A&E, rather than just placed in a cell)
Officers attending after RTCs, etc........

I've worked for myself mostly and at 53 everything was paid off and my financial situation stable enough to jack it full time work. It's very hard to find part time interesting work that keeps you fit, the latter being important for me. Cut a long story short............my daughter broke her arm, I got talking to a theatre porter in the hospital and that's what I ended up doing.

I work in A&E mostly and find it very interesting and fast paced, I manipulate the hours so that I get the shifts that I want, say Fri & Sat nights where it's more fun (for me) with things kicking off, and shifts where I get 1.5x the pay rate. I can empathise with @MontyVeda my weight is bang on due to the constant movement and I leave all work behind me the minute I finish my shift, being a drone is a real pleasure for me after so long of never being allowed to "switch off". As for the violence, injuries and deaths, they don't bother me one jot, I thought that they may but they don't.

As long as I am able to work in an "interesting" area then I'll keep on doing it, however, if I was in my 20's I would need more money..........

Ooh, I forgot about my youngest son, he is 18 in July yet already a qualified FA coach and a local sports company employs him around his college work. They contract out to educational establishments and replace/augment PE classes, basically, he gets to train/coach children in sports activities and is loving every minute.

43 working years, 5 appprentice , 24 repairing and making things, 14 behind a desk, the desk work could be interesting and at times boring, but being stuck behind a desk was the worst part, I much prefered the reparing and making, although the desk was job was well paid, this allowed me to retire early, I am now back to repairing and making things, for myself, mainly bikes (it was building bikes as a child that got me interested in all things mechanical) I also have plenty of time to ride them.

If I had the choice again I would probably try to avoid a desk job, but still look at a way to retire early.

You make it sound far more glamorous than it actually is.

As we a!ways say,, far too many people treat this joke as a job.........

I was a land surveyor although I actually graduated as a mining engineer! These days I travel around supporting the increasingly complicated instrumentation.

My work location is different every day and nearly always outside!

Maintenance engineer, keeps you on your feet, i rarely sit down for more than half an hour..
A typical days work could include any (or all occasionally ) of the following..
Door closer fitted this morning.
Thumb type euro lock fitted to an internal door to replace a lost key lock.
Unblock toilets occasionally (mum never told me i'd have to do that)
Occasional plumbing jobs.
Servicing a multitude of packing machinery (something like 10 packing lines and a total of maybe 90 individual pieces of machinery with individual requirements)
Replace lights (and lots of other general buildings maintenance)
Packing machinery breakdowns which can require interpreting what exactly IS causing the problem, pneumatics, mechanical, electrical, electronic, programming...or just plain simple operator error.
Attend H&S, environmental, management meetings.
Assist every tom dick and harry that has a problem with something.
Occasional simple fabrication and welding.

So you're a plumber, chippie, locksmith, mechanic, occasional electrician, just to name a few.

Oh...and paperwork, lots of paperwork.
