Anyone fitted 28mm tyres to a Synapse?

It has 25mm fitted right now but for that bit extra comfort on our pitted country roads I would like to fit 28mm tyres. Anyone done it? It's not the disc brake model, just a sora Synapse.

    Tubeless tyres are awesome!

I think this would have even defeated Marathon Plus tyres: it was 35mm long! With tubeless, I only noticed it due to the noise on the road every wheel revolution.

    Fitting new Tyres

Hi guys, I just purchase a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Plus for my bike to replace the tyres the bike came with originally. All the numbers on the tyres match up, however, upon trying to fit the Marathon Plus tyres, they just seem way too big. I can fold one side of the tyre in, however, it seems...

    20" tyres

Worth recycling this topic because tyre technology and availability changes. One if the disadvantage of the 20" wheel is that it's not mainstream, so there's limited choice. Schwalbe seems to be the main producer of tyres for 20" wheels. Puncture protection and rolling resistance is always...

Changing the tyres on my CX

After a bit of advice, I'm fairly new to riding a CX/Road/Gravel bike, I have a Boardman CX Team 2014 and i am currently running it on the standard knobbly tyres. When should I change these to slicks and what is the best tyre size to go for on these? Thanks

    Tubeless tyres

Having got a brilliant deal on some tubeless ready tyres, I have just fitted some schwalbe g-one tubeless tyres. A bit of a faff to fit, but not that tricky. Haven't been on a long ride yet, but will try them out properly on the commute tomorrow.

    Understanding tyres

I've been cycling for a while and have a road and an MTB but still don't really understand tyres! Am I right in thinking on dry roads slick tyres have the potential to give the best grip due to surface contact but on wetter roads you want some tread? I'm riding my MTB over the winter and...

    All about wheels and tyres

As a cycling community most of us tend to focus on frames and the drivetrain components. So much so that bike brands have more or less moved to provide similar specs for the various price bands. The wheels and tyres however are pretty much stock and entry level grades except for the top range...

Looking for new tyres - Help please

Hi All, I am looking for some advice on tyres. I ride a Pinnacle Arkose 3 (2015 version) which I mainly cycle for recreation, fitness and commuting. The type of cycling I usually do is mainly on paved roads, with some cycling on cyclepaths or slightly more gravelled roads. I currently have a...

Are used tyres of use to anyone?

I usually just chuck them in the bin, but it has occurred to me that my idea of worn-out and someone elses might be quite different. Perhaps someone can still use them on an old hack that they use to go to the pub, or art projects or something. I don't know. In any case I have 3 sitting...

    Spiked ice tyres

It'll be -1° when I go to work tomorrow. But, most of the roads I use are fairly traffic heavy, so the ice will probably have gone. Do I go to the effort of swapping out my tyres for the ice ones tonight or not?

Frost - will changing tyres make me less likely to end up on the deck (again)?

On my ride this morning I turned a corner on a frosty path and ended up on the deck. I use 23c slicks (which have never punctured). As I see it, whatever route I take when riding in the winter, particularly early morning, this is always going to be a risk. Is there anything I can do to reduce...

How long should road tyres last ?

First..............I fully realise it is "how long is a piece of string" type question with so many "if this/if that" etc. but here goes........................ Tyres are bog standard Giant PSL1 700 x 23mm on a defy carbon. Road use is normal as in a mixture of tarmac and tarmac/gravel. I have...

    Tyres for a B'Twin Triban 500SE

When the Cube Peloton arrives, the B'Twin will become my commuter bike. As it's winter, apparently, I'd like to replace the Vittoria Rubino slicks it's currently wearing with something more suitable for wet weather, however I can only go to 25mm due to clearances. I'm thinking Schwalbe...

What have I done wrong this time (Part 2)?

Part 1 is here: https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/what-have-i-done-wrong-this-time.191406/ So part 2 is my rear tyre. Got a puncture, checked for sharp bits, change the tube, made sure of no twist or pinches, inflated it with a co2 cart and it looks like the tyre has failed again. Had to ride...

    Using studded tyres

Two falls on ice by others in my cycling group earlier today has persuaded me to buy some studded tyres. My weapons of choice are a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Winters. The question is what can I expect of them? I grasp they need to be run in on asphalt, and they give more ice/snow grip at...

    Hutchinson Atom Comp Tyres

Anyone ever used these tires and could give me an opinion on them. Planet X are selling these today at 4pm for 9.99 each reduced from 46.99. Seems they are very light at 160 grms each so understand that the puncture resistance might be low but may be ideal for 10 and 25 TT's in 2016 Any views...

what are fairly puncture resistant tyres that are easy to get on and off?

Another puncture today....averaging a couple a month at this rate. Got a Shizuoka hoy with the Kendra tyres that came with it. As light as the tyres are I would sacrifice a bit of speed for some puncture resistance. I hear marathon plus are a nightmare to get on so if I did get a puncture (less...

are 25mm tyres deeper than 23mm as well as wider

I have seen some Conti 25mm tyres on Wiggle that are a bargain. Currently I have Conti 23mm. The 25mm are presumably wider by 2mm. How much deeper will they be? I have close fitting mudguards which may be a problem
