    Aquired Alfine 8 rear wheel

Looking at it I need an 8R Blue non turn washer and a shifter. I think I may just buy ythe small parts pack CJ-8S20 small parts pack as it will ensure I have everything for my (vertical dropout) frame. Any advice welcomely received.

Disconnecting a Son 28 hub dynamo to remove the wheel

Hi I've got a Son 28 disc front hub dynamo on my new bike and have a puncture on the front tyre. I can see a double pronged connector which I obviously need to unplug but try as I might I can't seem to get it off. I'm just a bit nervous about breaking something. Does it just need a really good...

Front drop out shape not accommodating hub

Hi - have a frameset (looking to move on for someone in poor health) on which the front dropouts won't accommodate the hub - it's not an issue with width/fork, its the little slots the hub drops into. Is it a case of file a few mm off so they drop in?

*SOLD* Brand new wheel set - Vision Team Comp 35 with skewers, tyres and tubes

I recently purchased a new bike from Planet X which came with this set of Vision Team Comp 35 wheels which are surplus to requirements. They were removed from the bike when it was unboxed so they've never been ridden. These clincher wheels are complete with skewers, tubes and tyres. Tyres...

A question for the experts about a rear wheel build

I’ve just split a rear Mavic Ksyrium Elite rim at the nipple, for the second time. I’m keen to move away from these fragile rims and build something stronger; I weigh 87Kg, which doesn’t help. I have 2 questions for the cognoscenti of CycleChat: Is it possible to use the existing Mavic...

    New wheel fouling mudguard?

Just changed from a Shimano RS21 rear wheel to a Mavic aksium, using the same tyre as previously. The new wheel is fouling the guard to the extent that it doesn't freely turn. I assumed both wheels would be the same diameter? Are there slight differences in rim height?

Recommend a good wheel builder in Hertfordshire?

Morning all. As thread title really. I have a new rear hub to replace the current one which has damaged bearings. Can anyone recommend a wheel builder local to me? - I'm close to St Alban's.

    Wheel Aesthetics

Am about to purchase a new custom wheelset. Rims only come in black. Spokes and hubs are available in black or silver. Am fond of silver but black rims with silver spokes and hubs might just be a little too weird - even for my colour proclivities. Thoughts of the CC non-ninja aesthetes...

Park Tool WAG-4 Wheel Dishing Gauge

Bought for me at Christmas but although a well intended gift it isn't ever going to be used in reality so hope it can find a new home. It's brand new and I have taken it out of the plastic bag but not used it. Royal Mail are quoting £12 to post it but it looks like My Hermes can deliver for...

    Wheel tension

In this thread (warning, it may hurt sensitive people), @Milkfloat posted a link to a DT Swiss web page talking about spoke tension. This graph grabbed my attention. DT Swiss apparently takes a "fingerprint" of each wheel as it comes off the production line. The fingerprint shows the...

Cube Attain Sl 2018 wheel issues

Hi, Wondered if anyone else had experienced any issues with Cube wheels? I bought the bike Mid November (Cycle Surgery Victoria), against some advice from colleagues who were all pushing me to go the Giant/Specialised route. However for the money it was the only bike offering full 105 group...

front wheel motor kits on ebay

Just wondering if anyone's brought or can recommend one of those front wheel motor kits. I've seen them on eBay for about £130 to £200 but have no idea if they are any good or what to look for?

559 rear wheel with freeHUB **Sorted**

Hi all, Needing one of these for my old Trek MTB so that I can fit the gearing I want, which is 8-speed. Anyone got anything along these lines? Not worried about prettiness, just so it's reasonably true and the freehub is functional and Shimano compatible. Ta!

Free in Swindon area Alesa touring wheel with Suntour xc Pro hub

Free to collect. The hub is Microdrive and needs a new cassette. You would need to get the old one off first as it has two teeth missing on the smallest sprocket. The wheel has been serviced recently but I'm finding the Microdrive system too unreliable for touring. I've seen a new 7-speed...

Quoted £250 for front wheel - XT Dynamo on Mavic A719 rim

Hi all, I asked the LBS for a quote for a new 700c front wheel with Mavic A719 rim and Shimano XT Dynamo hub, they said £250. Broken Spoke on rear wheel

I noticed a broken spoke on the rear wheel on my Giant Roam 0 (2015). Can this be repaired by a bike shop or will the wheelset need replacing? Wheelset is Giant SX-2.

What should I pay to have a wheel trued?

It's a Mavic Aksium and worth saving IMO. Two spokes were loose and it is a bit out of shape. What should I pay to have it trued?

    Is this wheel dead?

Asking for a friend, is this repairable, or dead? There's a slight buckle as well, but that might just be the spoke tension. I think he said it's 18 months old. Dead?

    ICE & Copenhagen wheel

Anybody rebuilt a Mavic Ksyrium wheel?

I've had a good eight years of use out of my Ksyrium SLs, which I got almost new from somebody on here. Now the rear rim is worn out. Wheel out of true or bent frame?
